Sage Sparrow with neck feathers blowing in the wind near Clear Creek
WMA in Millard County, Utah.
Though I normally go birding in this area the last of February, first
of March, this was an ideal day to
go (but I failed to see the migrating mountain bluebirds I'm so used to
seeing earlier in the month).
I never fail to find the sage sparrows in the same area each
year. © Carol Davis, 3-19-2008

I found a very informative site about sagebrush conservation.
The photos show
a variety of nests found in vanishing sagebrush habitat and the birds
who
rely on desert plants for their survival. We sometimes forget that
land that appears to be useless is, in fact, critical for
birds and animals that share our planet.
