Rufous-winged Sparrow
Aimophila carpalis
This photo would really have the Utah birders chirping
if it was taken in Utah, but it was
photographed
by my friend, Ilene Thompson, in her back yard in Tucson, AZ
What a treat to see have this neat photo
on my site. You can see the rufous on the top of the wing and the
characteristic double malar stripe
than runs from the beak to the neck of the bird.
Rufous-winged Sparrows are found in the US
in a small blip of an area in the lower portion of Arizona.
