Long-billed Curlew

Curlew Call

This Long-billed Curlew was walking across Antelope Island,
probably in search of food for the kids.
I saw her come out of the brush, stop at the road, then stroll daintily
across like she was sacheting down
a fashion show ramp. All I could think of was "Hurry up! Don't
you know cars come whizzing by
here all the time!" I finally got my camera on in time to get this shot
as she was melting into
the weeds. © Carol Davis, 6-15-2010
Long-billed Curlew giving me the business
for entering her
territory. This curlew
and 4 others were in the dry expanse between Promontory Point and the
Spiral Jetty.
As you can see, there is a little wetlands just off the dirt road.
