Least
Sandpiper (two photos)
Calidris minutilla

The tiny Least Sandpiper is often hard to see along a shoreline
because of its size but this one was close enough for me to get a good
shot
of its underwing. Yellow legs and a short, slightly-downturned
bill help to ID this species. Bear River MBR © Carol Davis,

One of many Least Sandpipers that spent most of the winter of
2003-2004 along the causeway
at Antelope Island. It wasn't easy since the winter was a nasty
one. © Carol Davis, 3-14-2004
