Bubo virginianus
We knew that there had been an owl in this tree on previous Christmas bird counts and we were eager to find one for the
2010 St. George Christmas Bird Count. We drove by and my brother and sister-in-law couldn't see anything. Just as
we were leaving, I told them to drive slower and let me look more closely and just as they were about to pull out
of the area, I spotted it high in the tree. What a treat!! It posed and we photographed. © December 14, 2010
