I'm sure all the owls on Antelope Island will be happier when they can hide in the trees in peace when the leaves come on.
Full sunlight makes for a very nice photo but for me, with owls, my luck seldom runs that way. This owl and the one below
must be the parents--there is a distinct color variation in the two of them.
I was scanning the trees for birds when out of the corner of my eye I saw a head move and that's the only reason
I saw this owl high in the trees. It was so perfectly camouflaged, hanging out in the shaded limbs. Later, after I left
it moved to another location and I knew it instantly when the other birds started screeching. I looked up and there it
was sitting in the middle of a cottonwood tree limb and I'm glad I wasn't standing near the creek below it because it chose
that instant to relieve itself. You wouldn't want to play paint ball with this sharp-shooter : ) © C. Davis, 4-18-2010
