Larinioides
Female Larinioides Orb Weaver with not one but two damselflies caught unawares while mating. The first photo shows how she
pulled them up with the drag line and a good grasp. It was difficult for her and I thought she would never succeed.
The second shows how she wrapped them more tightly for easier maneuvering. She was amazingly strong.
The third shows just how difficult a large lunch can be to haul into the dining room. I felt bad for the damselflies, since I am a
damselfly lover as well as a spider lover, and it was certainly too late to save them but I love to see nature work the way it was intended.
