Oligia
rampartensis (two photos)
Owlet Moth
3/4 inch

I was really excited to see this Oligia rampartensis
resting on my front porch--very close to the ceiling. It will
probably take off again at dark. I hope so since this porch area
is active with spiders at night and I'd hate to lose
such a pretty moth. I cleaned up the white background in these photos
to help accentuate the beauty of the wings.
and because it was just dirty. Not much is known about this moth
so it's a good one to study if you're just
taking up Lepidoptery. Bugguide.net
helped me identify this specimen. © Carol Davis,
