Ghost Moth
(aka Swift Moth) - three photos
Gazoryctra pulcher
Ghost Moth in a thistle at Silver Lake, Brighton, Utah. According to Bugguide.net, the male of this species "hovers over open
ground, sometimes slowly rising and falling [like a ghost]" to attract females. It's a beautiful moth and I was extremely lucky to
find it on this colorful Autumn day. Below is a picture of Silver Lake in all her brilliant fall colors. © Carol Davis, 10-1-2008
