I found this one early in the morning and it was much more
speckled than the first moth. Both
are Fall Cankerworm Moths. This moth destroys deciduous trees.
The female never gets wings
and, according to Bugguide.net, is capable of reproducing without
mating. The Pennsylvania

(Differences in color in the photos result from
the use of a flash. The moth is more brown than gray.) ©
