Eupithecia Moth (two photos)
"Pugs"

The tiny moth shown above is just one of hundreds of
moths in
the genus Eupithecia. They generally feed on
flowers and seeds of their host plants. One of their
characteristics is holding their upper wings at
right angles to their body with the lower wings hidden. As they
are all very similar in appearance, it is
difficult to narrow them down to species. This particular one was
resting on a building
at Tonaquint Nature Center in St. George, Utah. © Carol
