Northern Utah Cicada - Part III
1 inch

Genus Okanagana

Okanagana cicada
This beautiful teneral cicada, who had recently broken out of its little shell, was just waiting for its wings to
dry fully.  I came back about 15 minutes later and the cicada was gone to a safer location to complete the
process--I think I scared it off with all the camera flashes.  They do not get their final coloring
until they have completely dried.   © Carol Davis, 5-28-2009
