Black Longhorn Flower
Beetle
Trachysida mutabilis

This black longhorn flower beetle stood out on this wild pink
rose. Evidentally, from what I've read, longhorn beetles can live
a very
long time but most have short life spans. They eat flowers and
other vegetarian stuff. Longhorns (family Cerambycidae) typically
have
very long antennae and are not related to those big bulls with the
amazingly
wide horns you see in
Texas. © Carol Davis, 8-1-2008
