Red-headed
Ash
Borer
Neoclytus acuminatus
I was going to cut up some limbs into small pieces that had
been lying around for a few
days so I could put them in the garbage when I saw something crawling
around in them
and I knew this had to be good. These were running around
separately for awhile and then
decided to party together. I've never seen this species before.

They were so fast so it was good they got together so I was
able to photograph them. What
a beautiful little species. I guess their favorite wood is
cuttings. © Carol Davis, 7-20-2011
