Species Plagiognathus longipennis
As you can probably guess, judging from the long proboscis, these true bugs suck the juices from plants.
This particular plant, one of my favorites, is the columbine. The Plagiognathus longipennis caught my
attention because it was a little more colorful than the other plant bugs I'd come across. The lighting
was poor but this little bug posed for me for quite a while at Brighton, Utah. © Carol Davis, 7-22-2008
