Leafhopper Assassin Bug
Zelus renardii

Leafhopper Assassin Bug near St. George, Utah. Assassin
Bugs are predatory and very beneficial, although they should not be
handled
because they can inflict a painful bite if harassed. This one is
different from the other assassins I have seen because it is mostly
green
and has a rich brown color on the top. I'm always excited to find
an assassin because they are so good at hiding and if I do catch
one in the open, it is quick to retreat. This one was most
cooperative. © Carol Davis, 10-18-2008
