Leafhopper
Colladonus mendicus
Some little leafhoppers are pretty cute, like this one
with its striped outfit and black "headlights"
I found it in the wetlands below Jordanelle Dam in Wasatch
County, Utah. © Carol Davis, 7-3-2011
I think this species feeds primarily on Urtica
holosericea or Stinging Nettle. I couldn't begin
to
tell you if the plant it's sitting on is nettle even though I
suffered frequent skin irritation from
stinging nettle as a kid; a nettled stream near our
home was irresistible. © Carol Davis, 7-3-2011
