Field Cricket
Genus Gryllus
This is a wingless, juvenile Field Cricket, species
unknown. Some people consider a cricket
chirping in your house to be a sign of good luck. At work we used
to have one that was chirping in
the ladies restroom. One day we located it and were going to
dispose of it when a little lady from
Vietnam told us to just let it be and we would have good luck. I
guess she was kind of correct in
her belief because every afternoon when I showed up for work, I
was one day closer to retirement.
