Twelve-spotted Skimmer
(three
photos)
Libellula pulchella

Female Twelve-spotted Skimmer on Antelope Island. These
were quite beautfiul and quite prevalent. The outer wing spots on
this one
were not very dark and they covered very little of the stigma, which is
a must for an ID of the female of this species. The stigma
is the thin, dark-pigmented cell on the leading edge of the wing (near
the end). © Carol Davis, 5-31-2009
